Lesson One: Introduction -- money-blogging in a nutshell
Hi Fellow Blogger!
Welcome to Lazy Rich Blogger, and Lesson One.
I know you'll enjoy the training, and before we start, I ask you to make ONE commitment, and that's to DO -- to act. Please do the weekly tasks. Commit to this, and your blogging success is assured. :-)
If you do as much as you can, even if you're not sure what you're doing, you WILL become a lazy, rich blogger. :-) You're learning the secrets I've learned in ten years of blogging, so if you follow my method, you'll do great.
I should mention that although your lessons come to you weekly, please don't concern yourself if you fall behind. You can take all the time you need to complete the training, Julia and I are always ready to help you.
That said, please set aside some time to devote to blogging each day, even if it's only 20 minutes. You'll be amazed at what you accomplish.
So, let's get started...
Over the past couple of years, blogging has become hot.
Blogs have become the tool of choice for anyone who wants to present information online, and/ or who wants to make money quickly. Many businesses, rather than creating websites, are creating blogs.
A blog gives you immense power. You could conceivably create a blog, and make money from it within half an hour, or even less.
Let's look at why you should blog.
Why blog?
Most bloggers want one of two things: money, or fame. Hey -- you can have both. :-)

A blog gives you immense power. You could conceivably create a blog, and make money from it within half an hour, or even less.
Let's look at why you should blog.
Why blog?
Most bloggers want one of two things: money, or fame. Hey -- you can have both. :-)
1. Fame: create a blog, get famous
Here's an example of bloggers who got immense fame, quickly. One blogger is just 13 years old. From the New York Times: "Bloggers Crash Fashion’s Front Row".
The article reports:
"At a time when magazines like Vogue, W, Glamour and Bazaar have pared their staffs and undergone deep cutbacks because of the impact of the recession on their advertising sales, blogs have made remarkable strides in gaining both readership and higher profiles. At the shows this year, there were more seats reserved for editors from Fashionista, Fashionologie, Fashiontoast, Fashionair [my emphasis] and others, and fewer for reporters from regional newspapers that can no longer afford the expense of covering the runways independently."
Fashionista, Fashionologie, Fashiontoast, Fashionair are all blogs.
If you know the fashion world at all, you'll know how amazing this is... bloggers (of all people) get reserved seats at fashion shows. What next? It reminds me of the 1970s TV show, The Beverly Hillbillies :-)
Not that I'm suggesting that any of the bloggers are hillbillies, but that the bloggers were complete unknowns, and then suddenly gained immense clout in a very wealthy and snobbish industry, simply because they blogged and attracted an audience. If bloggers can break into the fashion shows, they can break in anywhere. :-)
2. Money: create a blog, get rich
Many bloggers want money, and the stories of the stratospheric prices paid for blogs have inspired many bloggers to turn their blogs into earners.
If you're wondering whether blogging sites really sell for millions, the answer is that indeed they do.
Here's an interesting post The Psychology of a Multi-Million Dollar Sale (Bored.com):
Over the years I had received some lowball offers for Bored.com, but never really considered selling it because it made a huge amount of money ($35,000/month profit), was not hard to manage, and kept growing year after year.
PaidContent.org posted -- BankRate Acquires Bankaholic For Up To $15 Million:
Financial info site BankRate is expanding its financial product listings, as it’s acquiring Bankaholic [a blog], which provides info on deposits, savings accounts, and money market accounts. The company will pay $12.4 million up front, with another $2.5 million possible earnout over the next 12 months. Bankaholic’s sole employee John Wu will assist in the transition and remain for an unspecified period of time.
Blogs sell for big money every day.
Could you sell one of your blogs for millions, as the owner of Bankaholic did?
If others can do it, so can you. But even if you never sell a blog for a million dollars or more, you can nevertheless get rich.
In Lazy Rich Blogger, we'll focus on the "money" aspect of blogs, but remember that you may well achieve fame, too.
